Well, maybe about "all opposition media was banned" is a bit of an exaggeration. Since Radio "Ekho Moskvu" and news website "Lifenews" - an extremely anti-russian oppositional medias are still alive and kicking. Also Livejournal isn't banned(except for navalny for some reason.. Since livejournal on the whole is anti-russian too and belongs to an owner with anti-russian veiws). So... yeah...

Being an artistic person you're just very emotional I guess. Plus have you ever tried to be Anti-american on american soil? You'll get smashed on all ways possible in no time. So its a kinda double standard liberal views.

I'm no Russian and I don't really care about russia, hence I don't have any russo-patriotic fever, also I'm not brainwashed by Western media either(though I was in my student times). From my point of view I can see things a lot objectively, cuz I don't belong to neither of the two worlds.

Didn't Russian Federation become stronger and richer since Vladimir Putin came into control? Yes it did. Didn't Russia make a comeback from being a third world country full of debts and misery into a powerful world geopolititcal player? Yes, amazingly it did.
So what are you complaining about? You as a Russian should be happy.

You want Russia to be like free Libya, Egypt, former Kosovo or Ukraine now? I don't see anything good happening in them since their "freedom Revolutions" - only total disasters.

Censorship and mediacontrol is only natural things that exist within ALL countries, yes there are censorships in western countries too. If you don't control your own media space, your possible enemy will control it.

Stop agitating things and giving them too much attention. Situations become worse this way. It is the same as with any agitator: Shouting, yelling everything does nothing to create a situation and it will dim if left alone. If not, then it escalates. Always. The same with public opinion and this dim-witted surface politics. The real world works differently and the vast majority are slaves to this system first psychologically (most by their own will) and then physically. This is beyond nationalities, countries, cities, blocks, races, families and so on with the stupid dividing of men. In order to serve the personal interest of everyone, people should be globally united in their common goals against the unwilling actions of the few which (presumably) have been elected by the many to govern their well being.

...so...    ...politics aside...

...how's the weather in Russia?

(I don't know, I'm at a loss to say something positive when it comes to politics, because it's often never the case.)

I think we live in the same world and share the same problems. I can be an idealist but I'm not stupid. I know how world works, unfortunately. But that's something that could be changed. Slow and painfully, yes.
When Putin kicked of Yeltsin I thought that perhaps Russia could regain some internal order from the out of control drunk puppet. But, as years passed, it became obvious you cannot trust a KGB and ans someone says "there no such thing as ex-KGB".
I just hope reason, not hotheads would prevail. In fact I hope one day Russia can become a member of the European Union.
But that's just my humble opinion and I've been proven wrong other times.
Just take care all in the "hot zones", OK?

Mad Vlad needs this conflict to deal with his shrinking power base at home. He's gotta show he's got the stones, and the distraction is kinda nice. You'd thinking bowing out gracefully would be an acceptable option. Go out on top as they say.

What madness rules your country, man? I do believe than, as it happens with all countries, there is a lot of good people in Russia, as there is a lot of good people in Ukraine. Why do war-mongers should put the lifes of your countrymen and it's neighbours at stake? Putin wants a Second Cold War, wanna feel like he can choke EU or what?
I know a bit of history, and I'm aware that the Ukraine-Crimea-Russian relationship is a complicated mess to most of foreigners. I only hope this does not ends up in another blood bath. It's not about "taking sides". It's about human lives.
Forgive me If I sounded a bit rude, my friend. That was not my intention. I do have a couple of russian friends, but also have some friends in Kiev.
I truly hope for the best. Stay safe, my friend.
